The Imo state government said yesterday that the former Director General (DG) of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, “is a mole of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the middle of APC”.
This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s chief press secretary and media adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku.
It read: “Lukman, who recently hastily resigned his appointment as CEO of the PGF, to avoid a pending dismissal for misconduct, has continued to speak in ways that suggest his stay amidst progressive politicians at APC was nothing more than a design to spy on the party in the interest of their accomplices in the opposition PDP”.
He said: “The point is that Lukman deserves our pity. He has lost touch with current political reality, and unless he retraces his steps by committing wholeheartedly to party supremacy encapsulated in the power invested in the leadership, it would be hard for him to deny that he is not a mole at APC. .”
The statement reads in part: “On Monday, February 21, Lukman was credited by a section of the media with accusing some respected APC leaders, including governors, of holding the party captive and working with the Extraordinary Convention. Caretaker run by Governor Mai Mala Buni. Planning Committee (CEPCC) against the February 26 convention that has been postponed to March 26.
“Normally, we would have ignored Lukman had he not had the misfortune to include the name of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma in the box of his thoughtless and careless statement.
“’Interestingly, perhaps, except for Dapo Abiodun, three of them, Mai Mala Buni, Yahaya Bello and Hope Uzodimma, aspire to become presidential or vice-presidential candidates,’ Lukman said.
“It is obvious that the enemies of democracy hired Lukman to deliberately discredit respected APC governors and leaders, like Uzodimma, just because their self-serving political permutations are not working.”
“Even when Uzodimma, just two weeks ago, stepped out to disqualify himself from any presidential contest, Lukman deliberately bypassed him to make innuendos that stemmed from hatred of Uzodimma, due to the latter’s rising profile at APC and the trust of his colleagues. they have relied on him because of his many years of experience in politics and the sincerity of his purpose.
“One would have thought that Lukman must have learned his lesson by now, given that he is still haunted by the illogical spirit that led to his near dismissal from office recently. But how wrong can we be!”
