… Six more in Ondo’s ghastly accident

By Dayo Johnson

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has expressed his condolences to the family of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba for the death of his wife, Mrs. Amaka Ndoma-Egba, in a car accident in Ondo State.

Akeredolu also expressed the same to all those who lost their loved ones in Ore’s horrific accident.

Recall that Amaka Ndoma Egba and six other people were killed in a car accident that occurred near the military checkpoint along the Ore-Okitipupa highway in the Odigbo council area of Ondo state.

They flew to Akure for the burial ceremony of the mother of aspiring governor of the Congress of All Progressives, Chief Olusola Oke, scheduled for Saturday (today).

Four people, including Amaka, were said to have died on the bus carrying her and others, while three others were killed in two other vehicles that were crushed by a truck.

No fewer than eight people were seriously injured in the accident.

The governor in a statement signed by his Information and Guidance Commissioner, Donald Ojogo, also expressed solidarity with Chief Olusola Oke, SAN for the sad event that involved friends and supporters on the way to the funeral ceremony of his beloved mother.

While praying for the rest of the departed souls, Governor Akeredolu said that the death of Ms. Ndoma-Egba is, in particular, a great blow to the friends, associates and professional colleagues of Senator Ndoma-Egba with whom he has shared a level of similarity.

Describing the deaths as shocking and devastating, he said his thoughts and prayers are with his longtime friend, Senator Ndoma-Egba, the children, and indeed the families of all the victims involved in the accident.

“This is a shared moment of sobriety and pain of immeasurable magnitude for our collective emotions. To be sure, the Government and the good people of Ondo State are devastated and dismayed by this incident.

“Our hearts and prayers, as well as our thoughts as the Government and people of Ondo State, go out to the Ndoma-Egba family and to other affected families. No word, no word, in fact, can heal this deep cut; you can only achieve self-comfort and a stronger faith in God, ”Akeredolu said.

He asked God to grant the former Senate leader and all those affected the strength to endure irreplaceable losses.

Likewise, Olusola Oke in a statement said: “We received the death of some of our guests who were going to attend the funeral of our mother, Rev. Mariam Ayo Oke, with deep shock.

”The families of Oke, Ayeni-Oliken, Alagwe and Aribo express their condolences to the families of the deceased. We pray to God to comfort the families they left behind and we wish those who suffered injuries a speedy recovery.

”Although it was the wish of the families to give Mom a proper burial, the families, in honor of the memory of our deceased guests, decided to have a low-key funeral ceremony.

The Hon Banjo Ayeni’s statement on behalf of the Oke family read: “We share the sorrows of the families of the deceased and pray that God will give their families the strength to endure their departure.
