A Federal High Court in Abuja set January 24, 2022 for a lawsuit filed by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for the stay of execution of the orders granted to Jimoh Ibrahim for an alleged debt of N69billion.
On Monday, Judge Okon Abang set the date after AMCON’s request to reconsider the Appeals Court’s verdict.
The postponed date would be to mention the claim or abide by the decision of the Court of Appeal.
NAN reports that AMCON was not in court while Ibrahim was represented by Oladele Oyelami, who was in charge of Adeniyi Akintola (SAN).
Oyelami told the court that the matter was scheduled to hear the notice of appeal delivered to the defense on September 30 by AMCON.
AMCON, through its lawyer, Ade Adedeji (SAN) expressed intention to appeal the orders issued in favor of Ibrahim and his companies.
The motion filed for the suspension of the execution has the application number: FHC / ABJ / 001/2021.
On February 22, Judge Abang overturned the orders obtained by AMCON in aid of Taiwo Lakanu, the receiver appointed to manage Ibrahim’s seized assets.
The government agency had taken over the multi-million dollar NICON Investment Ltd and Global Fleet Oil and Gas Ltd.
