Nigerians can no longer contain their emotions as President Muhammadu Buhari increased the price of fuel and the tariff for electricity to N151 and N66 respectively.

Yesterday, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), announced the increase in the price of gasoline to N151.56 per liter.

In reaction to this, millions of Nigerians took to microblogging sites (Twitter) and (Facebook) to condemn the price increase.

Below are their reactions:

Atiku: “I reject the increase in electricity rates. Coming out of lockdown, Nigerians need encouragement, not an impetuous disregard for the challenges they face. Many Nigerians have been without an income for months, due to no fault of their own. This increase is untimely and ill-advised. “

SERAP: “We urge the Nigerian authorities to immediately reverse the unfair increase in fuel price from N148 to N151.56k per liter.

This is a sham, as it would have a ripple effect on millions of poor Nigerians who will find it difficult to cope with rising costs of transportation and basic goods. “

Former President of the Nigerian Manufacturers Association (MAN), Ogun Chapter, Mr. Wale Adegbite, “The development will eventually lead to an increase in the prices of goods produced by manufacturers, which will automatically result in an increase in inflation.”

Eunice: “PMB, what happened to the price of the 40naira fuel you campaigned on in 2014/2015?”
