APC governorship candidate Usman Ododo has secured the highest number of votes in the Kogi governorship election.

Ododo polled a total of 446,237 votes and won elections in 13 of the state’s 21 local governments, according to figures announced by INEC at the final collation center in Lokoja on Sunday.

However, INEC is yet to declare Ododo the winner of the election as the final tabulation of the figures is ongoing. Furthermore, INEC had rescheduled the elections until next weekend in dozens of polling stations in the state due to the irregularities observed. Therefore, a final winner may not be declared tonight.

According to a Newslodge tally of figures announced by INEC, while Ododo polled a total of 446,237 votes, SDP candidate Murtala Ajaka polled a total of 259,048 votes and won in eight local governments.

Dino Melaye, the People’s Democratic Party candidate, is currently in third position with 46,362 votes. He did not win in any local government.

A total of 18 candidates participated in Saturday’s elections in Kogi.

INEC officials are still doing a final tabulation and will make a statement on the elections this evening.
