The entire state executive committee of the Grand Progressive Alliance, APGA, in Abia state, headed by its president, Chief Nkem Okoro, left the party and declared in favor of the Progressive Congress, APC.

Speaking at the APC secretary of state in Umuahia, APGA chairman Chief Nkem Okoro explained that they came to complete what can be described as a ‘tsunami of political realignment’ with APC which he claims has ended their political journey. in APGA.

Okoro stated that his decision was made after extensive consultation with APGA supporters and leaders at all levels, who agreed that the APC represents a progressive platform with the ideals and vision necessary to take on governance in 2023.

In his words, “Our decision to join the APC became more compelling and convenient, after the party leader in Abia State and a respected son of Abia, Dr. Alex Otti joined the party with thousands of APGA supporters recently.

“Today, we have come here with progressive zeal, passion and commitment to wholeheartedly join the APC with the desire to selflessly support the party’s vision to ensure that the Abia of our collective dream is fulfilled.

“As APGA leaders at all levels, we show hard work and uncompromising commitment in leading the men and women of our party, so today we want to assure them that we will display the same virtues of commitment and sincerity as APC members to passionately work for the growth and expansion of Abia APC at all levels.

“What we are doing here today marks the end of our journey at APGA, which is why we join the Abia APC with our spirit and soul, and with the determination to make people-oriented sacrifices with the goal of bringing the APC at an enviable height.

“Present here with me today are the members of the State Labor Committee, the 17 presidents of L.G.A and the district presidents of the 184 state districts, as well as former state and L.G.A party officials.

“Due to the challenges of COVID-19, along with a large number of APGA members willing to be a part of today’s event, we direct our LGA Executives, Neighborhood Executives and other members to carry out their statements in their various neighborhoods, so that this place would not experience any form of COVID-19 violations and a possible stampede.

“We know that the constitution and ideologies of the APC place such a high priority on party discipline, loyalty and supremacy over each individual, therefore we are excited that our record of commitment, discipline and loyalty would make it easier for us to quickly integrate and be part of the great APC family, ”he said.

Upon welcoming the new party members, Abia APC chairman Donatus Nwankpa said that the APC was ready to welcome as many people as they wanted to join the party as democracy is a numbers game.

He noted that the party in the state was interested in working other progressive minds in the state and has repositioned itself to win the governorship, 3 senatorial, 8 House of Representatives and 24 Assembly seats.

Also speaking, APC National Vice President Southeast Chief Emma Enukwu said the decision by former APGA members to join APC shows that the Ndigbo have now learned a lot about politics and are fully prepared for national politics.

Enukwu, who led other APC area officials, including the state chairman of the Enugu and Ebonyi party, Dr. Ben Nwoye and the Rev. Eze Nwachukwu respectively, added that the lack of understanding of national politics caused the loss of the Igbo were their legitimate position in Nigerian politics. .
