A support group for Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect, arrived at the Supreme Court in Abuja ahead of Friday’s trial on a lawsuit seeking Tinubu’s disqualification as a presidential candidate and his swearing in as president scheduled for May 29.

The youth group met at Bullet Junction near the Supreme Court.

A former Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo, was seen among the group.

Mr Dokubo, who has been a vocal supporter of the president-elect, sat on a rock as protesters swirled around him.

The protesters carried banners declaring their support for Mr. Tinubu.

“In Bola Tinubu’s mandate we stand firm,” said one of the posters.

Another said: ‘May 29 is sacrosanct. Nigerians have voted.”

The claim in court was filed by the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) that seeks to disqualify Bola Tinubu as a presidential candidate in the February 25 elections for the alleged inappropriate nomination of his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
