The Nigerian government has warned against attempts to destroy teachers’ properties following the prolonged strike by the University Academic Staff Union, ASUU.

Chris Ngige, Minister of Labor, Employment and Productivity, said that those who plan to use the EndASUU protest to destroy public and private property would be disappointed.

Yesterday he spoke in Abuja at the resumption of negotiations between representatives of ASUU and the Federal Government.

Ngige said: “Those who want to use the #EndASUU protest to destroy public and private property or teachers’ houses will be disappointed.

“I am optimistic that the meeting will produce the end result that will make everyone happy.”

ASUU has been on strike for about nine months over the alleged refusal of the government to comply with some agreements reached with the union.

However, the Nigerian government had recently agreed to pay $ 75 billion for the revitalization of universities and the payment of academic allowances accrued to ASUU.

Ngige had revealed this in November after a meeting between ASUU and government representatives.
