The Bauchi state government is ready to purchase more environmental sanitation equipment, allocating N50 million to ensure a clean and orderly environment.

Malam Hamisu Shira, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, revealed this to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Bauchi on Monday.

The equipment to be purchased includes a wheel loader unit, incinerators and other relevant work tools to ensure optimal performance and regular sanitation.

Shira noted that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, carried out last week, was fully carried out in the city of Bauchi, according to the directive of the state government.

He said that the exercise achieved 100 percent compliance and that the remaining 19 local government areas would also observe the sanitation day starting in September in a continuous exercise.

He explained that his ministry would ensure synergy with the state House of Assembly to enact laws that further protect the environment against abuse.

The commissioner congratulated the neighbors for their strict compliance with the rules that govern the sanitation exercise, since according to him they participated in the sanitation exercise.

He also praised the efforts of the state Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) for the diligence of its cleaners in maintaining daily sanitation in the city.

He said the cardinal goals of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration were to ensure sanitation and hygienic behavior in the 20 existing local government areas.

He added that they would not give up on making the environment clean and orderly. (YAYA)
