PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday gave a march to the Executive Vice President of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, to deliver all the tractors that the agency was renovating and housed at his institute in Minna, Niger State.

Upon receiving information from the agency in the Presidential Village, Abuja, President Buhari said that one of the most crucial modern implements needed to till the soil and help farmers to obtain abundant crops was agricultural aid such as tractors.
NASENI Executive Vice President Professor Mohammed Sani Haruna at the meeting told the President that several of these tractors were currently being renovated through the partnership agreement between the Machine & Equipment Consortium Africa trio, MECA, in partnership with NASENI and Nigeria. Professor Haruna said that the president, who is chairman of the NASENI Governing Board, expressed satisfaction with the agency’s activities, especially the efforts to manufacture agricultural tools and reverse engineering of modern machines and equipment aimed at boosting activities. agriculture, which is a cardinal objective of his administration to modernize the agricultural sector.
Recently, in a forum, President Buhari reiterated his government’s determination to solve the unemployment and job creation problems in the country through the increased focus and investment of his administration specifically in the agricultural sector.
Speaking to House correspondents, Professor Haruna said: “President Buhari was anxious to see tractors shipped to farmers before the next agricultural season.”
He said that “the president was concerned about the working and suffering state of farmers without modern agricultural implements,” adding that his administration would do everything possible to improve agriculture and ensure that the government deployed all resources within the system. to improve on practice and incentives for agriculture.

NASENI’s Executive Vice President revealed that the agency’s mandate was to build the confidence of Nigeria and Nigerians in supplying capital goods, machines and equipment necessary for the industrialization and transformation of the Nigerian economy.
He said the president’s marching order and the availability of tractors already on the ground at the agency was proof that the agency was meeting or fulfilling its mandate.
He said that “all the agency needs is the support of all Nigerians and governments so that we can continue to fulfill our mandate to the nation.”
