One businessman, Musa Zakari, appeared in a grade I area court in Karu, FCT on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding his friend of N1.3 million.
Police charged 34-year-old Zakari, who lives in Kubwa, FCT, with three counts of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Ade Adeyanju, told the court that the defendant collected 1.3 million naira from his friend, Suleiman Buba, promising to secure him a job in the Nigerian Customs and Police Service.
Adeyanju said that Buba reported the matter to the Maitama police station.
The crime, Adeyanju added, contravened the provisions of articles 79, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The judge, Mr. Maiwada Inuwa, admitted that the defendant bail in the amount of N1.5 million.
Inuwa also ordered Zakari to post a bond, which must live within the jurisdiction of the court.
He postponed the case until February 23 for the hearing. (YAYA)
