Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has admitted that he does not think his legendary status at the club will give him more time than any previous manager.

A recent slump in form has seen the Blues win just one win in their last six games.

It has led to speculation that Lampard could be fired.

Lampard knows owner Roman Abramovich could fire him at any moment, having seen him mercilessly cut out managers while he was a player at the club for 13 years.

“All I want to focus on is the job at hand, I can’t control everything and I certainly don’t want to depend on what happened in the past,” Lampard told the media ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Morecambe. He asked if he would get more time than other coaches before him.

“What I see right now in terms of the position of the club, a month ago everything was rosy. Now everything, and very quickly, is negative. I have to look positive and the things that I can’t control outside of that I feel like they are a waste of time.

“I have felt great support from this club in the period when I returned as a coach. As a player, I felt a lot of support for 13 years and, in the end, I left the club because they wanted to move on to other things.

“I understand what football is. I understand the demands and expectations. So I don’t think I have earned the right to anything that would get me out of that situation. All I can do is be honest with the way I see things.

“I understand that there is work to be done here and the position we are in. Young players had a difficult year last year and with the new players coming this year who are expected to produce at a young age right away, it’s going to be challenges. “
