The national vice president of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Chika Onuegbu, is dead. Onuegbu according to the report died on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
Ms. Beatrice Itubo, the state president of the Nigerian Labor Congress, confirmed her death to Punch, saying that the NLC was informed about the incident on Saturday morning.
Itubo said: “Yes, it is true. Early this morning they informed us and we also sent people and went to confirm.
“It is really terrible. I didn’t hear he was sick. It’s just that this morning someone told me he had a headache and he went to the clinic and they were taking care of him, then all of a sudden, in the early hours of this morning, he handed over the ghost.
“It is really terrible. This is happening at a time when Chika Onurgbu’s boldness and bravery is most needed. We have very hostile administrations in this period, both in the public and private sectors.
“Every time we are faced with some of these dire situations, he is one of the people who will stand out and voice his opinion as well. It’s really devastating that this kind of thing is happening right now, ”he added.
