Speaking to reporters in Abuja yesterday after he was interrogated for five hours by the department of state security services (DSS), he admitted that he should have been prudent before going public with the matter.
He added: “Sometimes when we are on the war front because we are in a war currently on the political front. While we experience such a war, there is the fog of war where we say the right things or the wrong things. Nobody is infallible. But the truth is that when it comes to the issue of national security, we have to be careful.”
Acknowledging that the alarm from the coup generated shock waves in politics, he explained that his action was aimed at drawing the attention of security agencies so that they would be aware of the situation if there was any shred of truth about it.
The former Aviation Minister commented that he had to comply with the DSS invitation because he had clean hands in the matter, adding that the DSS ordered him to report every Wednesday of the week pending whether he would be charged in court or the matter. he goes to rest.
Recalling his ordeal at the hands of DSS, he noted: “They questioned me extensively, they were very inquisitive and very professional. I was not oppressed and they were not acting on the request for my arrest by the PDP.”
However, he challenged PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to make himself available for a similar gridiron held by the DSS for his role in the alleged SPV money heist worth billions of naira.
