The Osun state government has postponed the resumption of schools in the state until further notice.

Previously, the state Ministry of Education had told public and private schools to resume on January 4, 2021.

These events, the Ministry of Education said in a statement signed by the Coordinating Director, C.K Olaniyan, was due to precautions against COVID-19.

Olaniyan noted that the ministry, together with the Health Ministry, will propose a realistic date for the resumption of schools.

“The Ministry of Education wishes to make clear that the prevailing public health circumstances, especially those related to the COVID-19 pandemic, have forced the state to take precautions.

“Therefore, parents are advised to continue to take custody of their children and wards, while private school owners are cautioned not to reopen under any pretext.

“The contradiction will attract the closure of said school,” the ministry warned.
