The Countdown arrives at the 7th Annual African Muzik Magazine Music and Awards Festival (AFRIMMA).

AFRIMMA is the largest African music awards ceremony in the diaspora that creates a platform to promote the diversity of African music. Every year, the best African talents from around the world take the same stage to celebrate African culture and music. African music continues to grow all over the world and African music attracts new stars every day.

In a statement from the organizers, this year’s AFRIMMA will be a virtual ceremony as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic means that congregation is not possible.

This year’s awards theme is ‘Destination Africa’, according to AFRIMMA President / CEO Anderson Obiagwu, “We take you on a musical journey to the sounds of Africa, the beauty of African music resides in the and the virtual AFRIMMA awards would be an exhibition event ”. Destination Africa will explore the different regions of Africa, and promises to be a period ceremony with superstar performers lined up. Some of the acts billed to perform at AFRIMMA 2020 include Fally Ipupa, Diamond Platnumz, Davido, Nadia Mukami, Soraia Ramos, just to name a few.

This year’s list of nominees includes a host of established talents, but it also features a number of new talents in what appears to be a major paradigm shift in the African music scene. Revered names like Burna Boy, Diamond Platnumz, Aya Nakamura, Soraia Ramos, Davido, Master KG earned nominations, while rookies like Oxlade, J Derobie, Zeynab, etc. earned their first AFRIMMA nominations. It promises to be a lot of fun and exciting at Destination Africa with AFRIMMA 2020. The virtual ceremony begins at 1pm CST on November 15, 2020 and will be streamed through the African Muzik Magazine Youtube page.
