Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi stated Tuesday that his decision to join the Congress of All Progressives, APC, was not based on the fact that he was promised the APC presidential post in 2023.
Umahi declared this in the new Government House, Abakaliki, while reporting to the press.
According to him, there was no discussion in APC where he was promised any position in the cause of his defection and added that his movement was a protest against the injustice that the PDP is committing in the Southeast.
“I did not leave the PDP because they refused to give me the party’s presidential ticket. I never looked for the party ticket and anyone who says that is just being naughty.
“Even if Someone promises you a presidential ticket, how does it work when more than 800,000 delegates will elect the person? Such a promise cannot happen within ten or twenty people. So, people are just getting naughty.
“The State House of Assembly in its letter to the PDP listed more Qualified Persons on the PDP than I did.
“Why am I moving to APC? Some people said they promised me this and that. But the truth is that there was no such discussion. APC never promised me any positions. They never promised APC any positions; there was no such discussion.
“However, I offered this movement in protest of the injustice that the PDP is committing in the southeast.”
