Luchy Donalds is an embodiment of beauty and brains, which is gently making its way into the hearts of many movie lovers. The girl from the Owerri North local government area of Imo State started acting in 2014 and has some awards to her name. In this interview with Potpourri, he lets us enter his public and private world.
Do you remember your first movie and what was the experience like?
Yes. It’s called “Investigator”. At the time, I was on Facebook and a producer saw my post and asked if I’d like to act and I said yes. He sent me a script and that’s how I got my first role. I got there and while I was filming on set, another producer saw me, praised my performance, and gave me another script. That was it. My career just started like this!
What are the films that you have presented and produced?
I’ve been in over 200 movies so I can’t remember all of them. I remember “Mr Arrogant”, it was my first movie. Some of my works include, “The Miss & The Mistress”, “Kong’s Wife”, material from Chisom the Wife, Too Hard to Forget “,” Forgiven Heart “,” Eno my Calabar Love “, etc. I have yet to produce. That’s a lane I’m in no rush to take. I’ll produce when I’m ready. I love all my movies and every character that I played is very important.
As an actress, what is your selling point?
My face, my beautiful body figure. Almighty God has blessed me with beauty and I know that it gives a lot, but the most important thing is my talent. This is paramount because with beauty and without talent, your brand as an actor will not sell. So my talent speaks for me and that sells me.
Many actresses flaunt their talents on social media. Where should the lines be drawn when flaunting the body?
You see, nowadays, decency has become outdated for most of our society. Don’t get me wrong, anyone, especially an adult, has the right to do anything. For me, it is okay to look beautiful, to be elegant and fashionable. It’s good for you as an individual, good for the brand you want to build. But what I don’t approve of is nudity. That’s where I draw the line.
Some people see it as an act of desperation, chasing influence, to create trends or drive traffic to their page. For me, it in no way speaks well of the person involved and the brand that they are trying to build. (You can lose jobs, contracts, or endorsement deals with big, reputable corporate organizations because no one would want to work with someone who’s naked on the Internet.)
What are the highs and lows of your career?
My high moments would be when my fans see me and rush to always hug me to greet me, the low moments would probably be nothing because I can’t remember any.
What does feminism mean to you?
For me, feminism advocates the “equal rights” of women. It is about understanding and accepting the equality of the sexes; socially, economically and politically.
What does being sexy mean to you?
Compliments are supposed to be little confidence boosters. A compliment is when someone expresses admiration for how well we did something or how good we look. A kind word really goes a long way. Especially when we are single and it comes from the opposite sex. But not everything that comes from the opposite sex that our culture finds endearing is a compliment. How to be called “sexy!” In our society, “sexy” has become an adjective to replace “beautiful” or “handsome,” but I have to be honest with you: this kind of compliment to describe a woman’s beauty is totally inappropriate.
For a man to call you (a woman he is not married to) “sexy”, is he expressing his unfair lustful desires towards you and is the Scripture clearly against being attracted to the lusts of the flesh? As women, we must be respected (and act) as worthy beings created by The Most High. We must teach others how to respect ourselves by controlling what we allow. And allowing random men to call you “sexy” is a form of disrespect.
What sacrifices do you have done in pursuit of acting?
For me, the biggest sacrifice I made was time. As an actress and career woman, you won’t have time for yourself, your family or friends, for vacations or vacations unless you decide to take time off from work, which is not that easy.
Act pays your bills or something else?
Acting pays my bills, but you know the thing is, you’ll have to be patient to get to the point where you start getting paid well, there is money in this business, as you grow, your price grows. So yeah, acting pays my bills.
What is your ultimate dream as an actor?
My last dream is to become the best actor in Africa, to also enter Hollywood. The most important thing is to be known as a very deep actor.
