Two domestic servants, Abolade Bolarinwa, 37, and Fadeke Jejelowo, 49, appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates Court in Lagos on Monday for alleged theft of property valued at N1.5 million and causing damage.
The duo allegedly conspired against their employer, Ms Bukola Bolarinwa, to steal his property worth 1.5 million naira and cause damage.
Bolarinwa and Jejelowo, whose residential addresses were not given, are on trial on one count of three counts of conspiracy, theft and damage.
Both, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendants committed the crimes on May 16, in Onabadejo St. Ikosi-Ketu Lagos.
Perezi said Bolarinwa stole a wardrobe jewelry store, two mattresses, four ceiling fans, a sewing machine and some food products, all valued at N1.5 million.
Jejelowo intentionally damaged an iron and asbestos sheet in the complainant’s apartment worth N300,000.
“The defendants took advantage of the complainant’s absence outside Lagos to perpetuate their act,” he said.
Perezi said the crimes contravene Articles 287 (7) 350 (2) and 411 of the 2015 Lagos State Penal Law.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ajayi, granted the defendants a bond in the amount of N200,000 each and also a bond each, who must have paid employment.
The magistrate postponed the case until November 25 for mention. (YAYA)
