The president of the Ekiti Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Femi Akinwumi, has warned the contractors who are in charge of the construction of the four public secondary schools recently established by the Fayemi administration that the deadline of September 30 to complete the job is still sacrosanct.

Speaking during a meeting with the contractors managing the projects at Ado-Ekiti, the SUBEB chief ensured the board’s continued support to ensure the project’s completion on time.

While emphasizing that the board would ensure proper oversight of projects for strict adherence to specifications, Akinwumi urged contractors to ensure projects are on schedule.

The SUBEB chief, who highlighted the Fayemi-led administration’s commitment to providing free qualitative basic education to all school-age children in the state, said the four new secondary schools, once completed, would improve access of students who live on the outskirts of the city. State capital for secondary education.

Speaking earlier, Project Management Commissioner on the Board, Dr. Kayode Adeoye noted that although the COVID-19 shutdown initially slowed down construction work at all four schools, contractors covered lost ground in recent months as the work had reached advanced stages. in projects.

Also speaking, the new SUBEB Permanent Secretary, Mr. Oluwadare Ajayi urged the contractors to take note of the observations and strictly adhere to the directives of Governor Fayemi during his recent visit to the project sites.

In response, representatives of the contractors pledged to deliver the projects on schedule, saying that roofing, plastering, window and door repair, electrification and plumbing work, as well as the landscaping of the playground, had already begun. and the environment of the new. schools.
