Lagos State Police Commissioner CP Hakeem Odumosu has tasked all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the state to enforce all COVID-19 protocols, as highlighted by the Presidential Task Force and the Government. from the State of Lagos, to the latter.
He took the charge while addressing officers from the Police Officers Wives Association, POWA Hall, Oduduwa, in the Ikeja area of the state, yesterday.
The head of the command who affirmed that the pandemic was real, emphasized the need to enforce the regular use of face masks by the inhabitants of Lagos, in public places, as well as maintaining social distance.
He said that the total closure of nightclubs, bars, lounges, event centers, as well as “social party, street carnivals, use of infrared thermometer to control body temperature, disinfectants and compliance with the curfew imposed between the 12 pm”. and 4 am “.
While reinstating the need for the command to do everything possible in its power to stop the spread of the pandemic, CP Odumosu urged the Area Commanders and DPO to supervise their men for good service delivery.
He warned against lack of civility, drunkenness, excessive or improper use of power, accidental firing, extortion and other inappropriate conduct by police officers, noting that “this will not be tolerated in any way. Anyone found wanting will be severely punished within the scope of the law ”.
The police chief also admonished the residents of Lagos to respect the law, support the security agencies in the effective surveillance of the state, and stay safe at all times.
