• The work continues: Undoing the government

By Dayo Johnson

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State tested positive for the coronavirus yesterday. However, the governor’s COVID-19 state sent fears to commissioners, legislators, and traditional rulers, who had contacts with the governor in the past week.

Akeredolu, however, assured that he will continue to carry out his official duties since his self-isolation.

The governor, who gave the news on his Twitter account, said: “Earlier today (yesterday), I received confirmation of a positive result for COVID-19.”

His words: “I am asymptomatic and I do not have any symptoms. I am currently self isolating, and supervised home management will be managed by the wonderful team at our Infectious Disease Hospital, HDI. I ask that we all stay safe and that we be well. ”

Later, in a state broadcast, Akeredolu said: “My good people from Ondo State, I am very pleased to address you at this time.

“I had malaria a few days ago and I was treated and I got over it and when we had our NEC match and my colleagues called me, I spoke to one of them who said malaria shouldn’t be treated lightly but should go ahead and get tested for COVID -19. The result came out yesterday, June 30, 2020 and I had a positive result, but I am very asymptomatic.

I am asymptomatic

“I don’t feel sick or have any heat at all, but my doctors have decided that I should take the normal treatment and isolate myself.

“I think supervised home management will be ideal for me for now, so from now on I will be isolated and continue supervised home management.

“Let me assure our people that, as you can see, there are many of us who do not have the symptoms, but they are there and they cannot see it, and in a few days we will do another test and we will know the result.

“Let me assure our people that the work is being done here at home. I will attend the files which are the normal thing that I do and there is nothing that can stop the work.

“I want to beg my political associates to continue with the project that we are sure to win. “As you know, I have the gift of reaching my destination, knowing that I am a man with special gifts, and my trust in God to overcome this is unwavering.”

Fear seizes commissioners, legislators, monarchs, others

However, it was found that commissioners, legislators and traditional rulers, who had contacts with the governor last week, expressed fear of being infected with the virus.

Members of the Ondo State Assembly Chamber, led by the speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oloyelogun, led members to obtain and submit the Governor Nomination Form in Abuja and, upon arrival, visited him at the House of government.

Additionally, the chairman of the Obaship the Olugbo of Ugbo state council, Oba Frederick Akinruntan, led other traditional rulers to back the governor for a second term last week.

A reliable source said that the governor had sent words to all the commissioners and others, who had contact with him in the last week to undergo tests to know his state of health.

No component of the government will suffer: Ojogo

Reacting, Information and Guidance Commissioner Mr. Donald Ojogo, in a statement, said: “The Governor has resolved to isolate himself, in line with accepted global standards regarding COVID-19 protocols. This is necessary to ensure proper determination and focus direction. ”

The statement says: “Mr. The Governor trusts God that everything will be fine, even as he seeks each and every prayers during this period. However, it should be noted that the Governor’s decision to isolate himself is voluntary and clearly describes the need for transparency when facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Consequently, there is nothing to fear; and no component of government business will be adversely affected within the governor’s period of self-isolation.

“In this regard, the Governor calls on all to be firm and remain committed to their assigned official responsibilities.

“Specifically, the Governor calls on his Campaign Team to continue with all the planned events and itineraries regarding the re-execution project. We will win and we will win big, he says.

Undergoing tests, Akeredolu leads cabinet members

“Meanwhile, Governor Akeredolu has directed all cabinet members, close aides, and others who have had reason to have constant contacts with him to undergo mandatory testing.”
