A former Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Professor Timothy Adebayo has emerged as the fourth Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo.
DAILY POST gathered that Adebayo succeeded Professor Dapo Asaju, former president of the University Academic Staff Union (ASUU) of Lagos State University (LASU) Ojoo, whose term recently expired.
Adebayo resumed this weekend as the fourth VC of the institution.
Adebayo in his inaugural speech promised to govern, direct and reposition the institution.
The new vice-chancellor, when addressing members of the university community, pointed out that the university will become a first-rate institution, relevant both nationally and internationally through the vigorous pursuit of the University’s vision.
He said: “ACU, under my leadership, will strive to ensure that its academic operations, including curriculum design and development, are tailored to achieve a substantial percentage of completion of its strategic plans. The university curriculum will be modified (according to the vision, mission and objectives), along with highly qualified academics.
“Let me say that I am here to work with you and co-direct (note that we are collaborators in your vineyard) the affairs of this university with a mantra“ Towards self-financing, self-reliance, and God-fearing effort par excellence Using Five Areas key as my tools.
With a mantra of ‘revitalizing internally generated revenue to achieve financial sustainability,’ ACU’s fourth vice chancellor stated that he will develop a roadmap to rebrand and expand infrastructures on his campuses.
“I will develop a roadmap to become a first-rate university, which is in conjunction with the vision of the founding fathers of Ajayi Crowther University, to rebrand and expand the infrastructures on our campuses, to use ICT as a tool to boost teaching, research and meetings.
“Exchange programs between universities of established origin and abroad will also be taken into account. This will help broaden the expertise of ACU teachers.
“A unit will be established that will be assigned the responsibility of seeking donors. I will also take advantage of the caliber of our students’ parents and the international reach of the Anglican Church to launch out to solicit donors and the endowment of chairs at the University.
“I will strive to attract ACU to the global knowledge market through quality research and teaching results. In addition, I will fight diligently to obtain accreditations for all academic programs ”.
