Fulani criticizes Christian elders' petition to IGP

By Ibrahim HassanWuyo

Fulani leaders in Kaduna state have said that a request from the National Forum of Christian Elders to the inspector general of police calling for the attention of the police to arrest and prosecute an Ardo Bulama for the crime of treason was a misrepresentation.

Ibrahim Bayero Zango, Director of Media and Publicity for the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, said in a statement that the petition was reportedly published by a national newspaper on August 15, 2020.

The Fulani called the petitioners ‘attention to learn that “no Fulani man bears the name’ Bulama”.

“In that sense, we consider such claims and to think that the name Bulama could be or related to the Fulani is a misleading impression and hides the petitioners’ ignorance of the Fulani herding culture in Nigeria.”

They categorically stated that even the alleged Bulama audio that went viral on social media was suspicious.

According to MACBAN, “it was just an attempt to blackmail all the Fulani pastoralists in Nigeria to create a negative impression against our people. (Pastoralist Fulani) “.

“We do not ignore the efforts of some undesirable elements who have made fanatical efforts to classify all Fulani as terrorists.

“We suspect that the NCEF has something to do with the origin, production and circulation of the viral audio considering the way the forum handled your request.

There are many similar audios that are circulating, including Christians threatening the Fulani in Nigeria. “

“Why did the forum choose to react only to this one?
We wish to state categorically that the producer of the audio in question is unaware of Fulani culture and values by naming the producer as Ardo Bulama.

This shows that the audio was created by the enemies of the Fulani in others to paint us black in the eyes of other Nigerians and the international community in order to justify their hatred and false propaganda against the Fulani in Nigeria. “

“Calling a Fulani man Bulama is like calling a Yoruba man Chukuma or Okonkwo or calling an Igbo man Babatunde or Olajide. We call on the Inspector General of Police to adequately and thoroughly investigate the origin of the entire problem and bring the audio manufacturers to justice ”.

“We also appeal to our brothers and helpers, the Fulani in Nigeria to remain calm and respect the law as usual,” they said.
