Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard hopes to retain Super Eagles star Leon Balogun on his team beyond the end of the 2020-2021 season.
The former Brighton & Hove central defender joined the Light Blues last July on a one-year contract with the club with the option to extend his stay for another year.
With Balogun helping Rangers keep a clean sheet in fourteen games in the 18 games he played, Gerrard regards the Nigeria international as one of the club’s most valuable assets. The 32-year-old has formed a formidable partnership with Connor Goldson at center defense.
“All contract chat will remain private between the players and the club once they go live,” Gerrard told reporters at Friday’s press conference.
“At the right time, we will sit down with Allan McGregor and see what he wants to do in terms of his own future.
“Leon Balogun is also someone we want to keep.”
