The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged Nigerians to show a grateful heart to God for witnessing another Christmas despite the turmoil associated with the year 2020.
Abiodun, who gave the warning at the Christmas service held at St. James Anglican Church, Diocese of Remo, Iperú, said that although the year began with hopes and aspirations, it ended up being unusual and challenging.
“We have every reason to thank God for making us see this Christmas. This year is an unusual and challenging year even though it started with hopes and aspirations, ”he said.
The Governor, who reaffirmed his commitment to provide equal attention to all parts of the State, said that his administration has achieved moderate achievements in the areas of infrastructure, social welfare, youth empowerment and job creation, as well as education and agriculture.
“I am sure you have seen our people going around to repair and rebuild roads here in Iperu, Ilishan, Sagamu, Ijebu-North and Ijebu-Ode. They are also working in Abeokuta, Ilaro, Ifo, Ota, Ipokia and Imeko. They are working to ensure that we have passable roads in our state, ”Abiodun said.
He argued that despite the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and EndSARS protests that disrupted socio-economic activities in the state, his administration remained undaunted, resulting in the state being considered the best in education, agriculture , housing and information and communication technology. (TIC).
The governor urged the people to be responsible in celebrating Christmas as it was the period of peace.
In addition, he ordered them to continue to observe the Covid-19 protocols to contain the second wave of the pandemic, which, according to him, is more deadly than the first.
In his Christmas message, the Venerable Samuel Ajileye, who affirmed that the birth of Jesus Christ signifies love and selflessness, commissioned Christians to show love to their fellow men.
