Governor Fintiri emerges as PDP gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa

No fewer than 663 delegates on Wednesday chose Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate to contest the 2023 elections for a second term.

Gibon Katabs, chairman of the election committee for the primary elections, made the announcement in Yola, the state capital, after the exercise.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that Mr. Fintiri was the only contestant following Jamil Waziri’s disqualification by the selection committee.

Mr. Katabs said that 668 delegates were accredited, but there were five invalid votes.

“Governor Ahmadu Fintiri got 663 valid votes and is hereby once again the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Adamawa in 2023,” he said.

Mr. Katabs also praised the delegates for the success of the primaries.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Fintiri thanked delegates for the trust placed in him to run for a second term.

He congratulated all the candidates of the party for the successful primary elections and assured that the party will support them until the end.

Fintiri urged those who lost the election to accept their fate as an act of God and continue to support the party to succeed as one family.

He also called on party supporters to be ready for the national convention to ensure that Atiku Abubakar, an Adamawa Indian and former vice president, emerges as the party’s presidential candidate.
