Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu commended the Abia State University Teaching Hospital School of Nursing (ABSUTH), Aba, for excelling in the November 2020 General Council of Nursing exams.
Ikpeazu in a series of tweets, said that the achievement was the result of the hard work of the candidates, their teachers, the school administration, and the deliberate policies put in place by his government to take our education / training in the state to greater heights.
Ensuring that his administration will continue to invest in education, the governor revealed that Abia State University (ABSU) is now ranked among the top 10 state universities in the entire federation.
“For the first time in 10 years, the Abia State University Hospital (ABSUTH) School of Nursing, Aba, ranked first nationwide in the November 2020 General Council of Nursing Exams.
“For example, we have built 4 new model schools and 477 new classroom blocks; We were the first state to feed their Pry 1-6 students even before @NigeriaGov took over the feeding of Pry 1-3 students across the country. Despite that, we continued to feed our students in levers 4 – 6, which was part of the reasons our school enrollment rate increased from 115,396 in 2015 to a record 658,472 in 2018.
“We have also been training and retraining teachers in our state with Australian and Indian consultants to keep them abreast of global best teaching practices and techniques. Therefore, it is not surprising that Abia held the first consecutive position in @waecnigeria from 2015-2019 while we await the ranking for 2020.
“Similarly, Abia State University (ABSU) is now ranked among the top 10 state universities in the entire federation, out of its previous 34, who have followed our efforts to raise the quality of education in Abia, they will not be surprised that our candidates in the last exams of the General Council of Nursing had a grade of 100% and reached the top in the entire federation in the last exams of the Council.
“My guarantee to Abians is that my administration will continue to invest in education not only as one of our pillars of development, but also as a way to ensure a bright future for future generations,” he tweeted.
