“I am a clean athlete, and I am regularly; (maybe more than usual) tested by AIU,” he posted the 26-year-old track and field sensation to his Instagram page on Wednesday after the charge.
“I was tested a few days after my third ‘missed test.’ I have faith that this will work out in my favor and I will be competing in the 2023 World Championships in August,” she stated.
The 2023 World Championships in Athletics is scheduled to take place in Budapest from August 19-27.
“Today (Wednesday) the AIU accused me of an alleged violation of the rule for having missed three tests in 12 months.
“I intend to fight this charge and my case will be decided by a three-umpire tribunal before the start of the World Championships next month,” he said.
Tobi set the current world record of 12.12 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2022 World Championships in Track and Field held at the University of Oregon, USA.
On Sunday, he set a new record in the Silesian Diamond League competition in Poland. It was his second Diamond League win this season.
Tobi was part of the Nigerian 4×100 relay team that won gold at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
However, the foursome were stripped of the medal after lead runner Grace Nwokocha failed a doping test.
Athletics has a three strikes rule which states that if an athlete does not provide accurate whereabouts information for a doping test, they may incur a missed test declaration or failure to submit.
Three strikes in a 12-month period is an anti-doping violation.
