I did not join the PDP – Buhari Minister

Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development Gbemi Saraki has refuted the report that she has joined the Democratic Party of the Peoples (PPD).

Ms. Saraki, in a statement signed by her media adviser, Moses Bello, denied joining the PDP and supporting its Kwara gubernatorial candidate, Yaman.

She is serving as a minister in the current APC administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bello further added that the minister worked tirelessly to ensure that APC President-elect Bola Tinubu won the presidential election in the state.

He said this was despite some disagreement with the actions of the APC-led state government regarding the legacies of the minister’s late father, Olusola Saraki.

According to Mr. Bello, Ms. Saraki had categorically stated that she remains an APC chief both in Kwara and in the country, adding that she has no intention of leaving the victorious party.

She added: “If anything, I am even more committed to ensuring the success of the incoming Asiwaju/Shettima administration on May 29,” Ms. Saraki said.

Mr Bello said Ms Saraki has had a checkered political career and remains one of the powerful forces in Kwara politics.

He added: “Saraki is a grassroots mobiliser and has pledged her continued loyalty to the administration of President Buhari, as well as that of the new President Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima.”
