He Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has given 98 senators-elect their certificates of return.

They are the winners of the senatorial elections held in conjunction with the presidential elections on Saturday, February 25.

The certificates of return were handed over to them at the Abuja International Conference Center.

INEC said that the certificates of return for the elected members of the House of Representatives will be presented to them on Wednesday.

The commission had presented the certificates of return to the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, and the vice-president-elect, Kashim Shettima, last week.

So far, only seven of the country’s 18 political parties have at least one member in the Senate, INEC President Mahmood Yakubu said.

The parties are: All Progressives Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Labor Party (LP), People’s Party of New Nigeria (NNPP) and the Youth Party (YPP).
