Antonio Conte insisted that Christian Eriksen would have his chances at Inter this season.

Eriksen, 28, joined the Serie A giants from Tottenham in January but has struggled to gain playing time since his arrival. The Denmark international said last week that he wanted more chances, having made just nine Serie A starts since joining Inter.

While Conte said Eriksen had his chances, he expects more opportunities for the former Ajax star.

“He’s playing enough. Of course, my choices are for the benefit of the team, so I could even be wrong, ”said the Inter coach at a press conference on Friday before the derby against Milan.

“However, I am happy with what Eriksen is giving Inter now, how he got integrated into this squad and I think he is happy to be with this group and with me and with my staff. He will surely have chances because the season will be long and hard.

“[On Saturday] I will have only four midfielders, three will play and the other will come in later.

“On Wednesday we will play another tough game against Borussia Monchengladbach but, anyway, I think Eriksen has had many chances and has shown his talent to Inter. Like the other players. “

Inter have added seven points in their first three Serie A games to rank fifth in the table.
