IPOB Blames Culture for Keeping the Dead Too Long in the Southeast

Recommend burial within three days

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have criticized the practice of keeping the dead for too long before burying them. The separatist group therefore recommended that the burial of the dead be organized within three days of the person’s death.

IPOB, in a press release, yesterday, by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, especially urged the inhabitants of the southeast to develop the culture of burying their dead early enough, at the latest within three days after the death of the person as he was in the past.

Powerful claimed that IPOB became deeply spiritual and found that keeping the dead for too long contributes to major problems in Ndigbo today.

He said: “As it was in the past, bereaved families should be allowed to bury their dead while the burial ceremony is fixed at a later date, including levies necessary to raise.

“Our ancestors buried their dead in three days and it was this culture, which our ancestors maintained from the beginning, that helped them spiritually.

“The current habit of keeping the dead for more than three days, even months and years in the mortuary, has had dire effects on our land and has contributed to the spiritual weakness of the Igbo Nation and the entire land of Biafra, including moral decadence and all forms. of the evil that has taken root in our land.

“Now that IPOB has realized that this alien practice is having a negative impact on our people and our land, it has therefore become necessary to urge our people to return to the old practice that had a positive effect on our well-being. spiritually and otherwise.”
