Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos sold $ 3.1 billion worth of shares in the e-commerce company in recent days, regulatory filings showed on Wednesday.
The sale of shares comes at a time when the company’s shares have increased more than 73% this year.
According to the documents, during the first two business days of August, Bezos sold one million shares as part of a previously announced business plan.
Bezos, the world’s richest man, had said he planned to sell approximately $ 1 billion worth of shares each year to finance his rocket company, Blue Origin.
The last sale of shares leaves him with 54.5 million shares worth approximately $ 174.6 billion at the current market price.
