Jibrin Barde wins Gombe PDP gubernatorial primary


Former Sun Trust Bank Group CEO Jibrin Dan-Barde Wins Gombe State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary elections.

Dan-Barde scored 160 to defeat five other candidates and emerge the winner.

Declaring the result on Wednesday, the returning officer, Mike Oghiadomhe, said Dan-Barde got 160 votes, followed by Jamilu Ishiyaku who got 119 votes.

He said Adamu Shehu Sulieman got 18 votes, Aliyu Abubakar 17 votes, Babayo Ardo 13 votes and former Federal Mortgage Bank Managing Director Yau Gimba Kumo got just one vote.

“I, Mike Oghiadomhe, Gombe State PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election Teller, wish to announce that the elections were transparent, free and fair.

“And after counting the votes, I wish to announce that Jibrin Dan-Barde, who got the most votes out of 160, is declared the winner of the Adamawa PDP gubernatorial primary election,” said Mr. Oghiadomhe.

Addressing supporters shortly after the announcement, Mr. Dan-Barde thanked party stakeholders for his victory.

He also thanked the delegates for their efforts and promised to bring significant development to the state.

“If elected, I will ensure the welfare of the people of the state, especially public officials. And I will make retirement a blessing rather than a curse as experienced in the state.

He called on party members to support him to win the general election in 2023.
