Newslodge reports that journalists sponsored by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) are in the state to elect new members of the union’s Central Labor Committee.
Delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to elect the union’s NUJ National officers today.
National officers will spend three years in office.
The findings of the Newslodge correspondent, who is one of the delegates from Oyo state, revealed that Umuahia has witnessed a hive of activity since Tuesday. of the Nigerian National Industrial Court by some union members in Ogun State who prevented the union from holding the conference, had been overturned by the Ibadan court.
This development according to Isiguzo had cleared all the encumbrances for the union to go ahead with the conference of delegates.
He explained that the opening ceremony of the conference is expected to begin at 9 am at the Dr. Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.
