Danjuma Sarki, leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Kaduna state, has denounced the change of the local government elections to September 4.

He claimed that changing the election of the council in the state for the third time would weaken the morale of the electorates.

Recall that on Monday, the chairman of the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), Dr. Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu, in a meeting with stakeholders, announced the postponement of the local government elections scheduled for August 14 to September 4. 2021.

The president of KAD-SIECOM explained to interested parties that the postponement was inevitable due to the late arrival of the expected battery that would power China’s voting machines.

According to the head of the PDP, the postponement of the local government election in the state was a complete failure of the ruling party in the state to put things in the right perspective.

He lamented: “It is regrettable that an electoral body like KADSIECOM postpones the elections for the third time because of a flimsy excuse.

“Obviously, it is clear that either they are not prepared or the APC government is nervous about the possible outcome of the elections if they are allowed to be free and fair.”

Danjuma Sarki explained that the main opposition, the PPD, was ready to hold elections at the local government level.

“KADSIECOM told us last time that they need enough time to receive the battery from China and now the time given for the August elections is not enough for them,” he lamented.

The party chief pointed out that they were told that by July 20, the battery would have arrived and everything would be ready for the conduct of the election, hence the August 14 election.

He assured: “But the good thing is that we will be waiting. The choice must take place. The Kaduna electorate is ready to elect those who they believe can represent them well at the local government level. “

Danjuma Sarki pointed out that the postponement of the council election showed that the ruling party in the state did not have a clear agenda for the people of Kaduna.
