The Leo Baeck Scholarship The 2023-2024 program is a fully-funded research scholarship opportunity for international students. This scholarship provides a monthly stipend of EUR 1350 plus a monthly research cost allowance of EUR 100.
The Leo Baeck International Scholarship Program is intended for PhD candidates who are working on a dissertation in the field of the history and culture of Central European Judaism. Projects from all eras, disciplines (eg literature, philosophy, history, musicology) and geographical areas (eg Europe, America, Israel) are welcome, all of which have a connection to German-speaking Judaism.
In addition to financial support for one year, the program offers the opportunity for scientific exchange and networking. It is open to doctoral students of all nationalities and from all universities in the world. The fellows remain at their respective universities and meet for two workshops, jointly organized by the Leo Baeck Institute of London and the Study Foundation.

The Leo Baeck scholarship program provides the beneficiary with the following benefits:
- Scholars receive a stipend of €1,350 per month.
- In addition, a monthly research allowance of €100 is available.

Candidates are invited to submit the following documents in English or German:

- Cover letter describing the motivation to participate in the program (1 page)
- Curriculum vitae with details about education, general interests and language skills
- Photocopy of university degree(s), including grades/grade
- Research proposal (5 pages)
- Research calendar for the 2023/24 academic year, including planned research trips
- Letter of recommendation from the doctoral project supervisor
- Second letter of recommendation
