The Tangale Community Development Association (TCDA) has called on the Gombe state government to lift the four-month curfew imposed on the Billiri local government area in the state.
TCDA also said that despite the current curfew, “our men and women are being kidnapped at night.”
Daniel Maddo, a member of the TCDA Board of Directors, flanked by other association officials, revealed this in Jos, the Plateau state capital, while briefing journalists.
“We urge the Gombe state government to lift the longest curfew in Nigeria imposed on the Tangle people in the local Billiri government since February 19, 2021.

“Unfortunately, under this curfew, our men and women are being kidnapped at night,” the group denounced.
“We urge the government to always use legitimate and legal security agencies to maintain law and order within Gombe State and prevent the use of ‘Yan Kalare’, hunters and other illegal vigilante groups.”
Newslodge recalls that on January 11, 2021, Mai Tangle 15, HRH Abdu Buba Maisheru II died and was buried, leading to permutations as to who would succeed him.

As a result, the Kingmakers delivered the result of the selection to the Lieutenant Governor who witnessed the process in the company of the Commissioner for Local Government and Headquarters Affairs.
Unfortunately, the Governor went ahead and installed the aforementioned (Mallam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba), despite obtaining only two votes, which has caused great tension in the leadership.
The Group also asked the installed supreme ruler Mallam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba to stop flaunting himself as the Mai Tangle (supreme ruler of Tangle) in the Biliri LGA of the Gombe state.
The TCDA said that according to the heads of state law and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamba is the duly “chosen and recognized” Mai Tangle.
“That Mallam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba (Danladi Maishanu) should stop displaying itself as the Mai Tangle for the sake of peace, tranquility and good governance.
According to him, “In accordance with the headship law and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended); Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamba is the 16th Mai Tangle duly chosen and recognized.
The Group argued that if Mallam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba really is of Tangle extraction, it would have respected and followed the guidelines of tradition.
The TCDA further stated that, as a peace-loving people, they have decided to go to court to resolve the issues related to the Mai Tangle stool.
“Being the judiciary the last hope of the common man, we hope that it rectifies this great injustice committed against the Tangale people,” he stressed.
On the inflammatory statements of the state governor, TCDA said: “We hope that the statements of the governor of the state of Gombe do not incite other groups against the Tangale nation, as this could lead to genocide.”
However, the people of Tangale said they will approach the court next week as they were unable to do so due to the strike by workers from the Judiciary.
