ThankGod Paule, a 29-year-old worker, has been sentenced to six months in prison by an Ile-Ife magistrate for trespassing and theft of property worth N4,560.
He was convicted of stealing rice worth 1,000 naira; two bottles of Biggie Cola worth N300, two bottles of 7up drink with N400, a pack of spaghetti worth N400 and five pieces of Magis soap worth N500.
Upon sentencing, Judge Oluwatosin Adediwura sentenced him to six months in prison with the option of one month of community service.
The convict had previously pleaded guilty to burglary and robbery charges and prayed for mercy.
The prosecutor, Inspector Glory Onah, told the court that Paule committed the crimes on December 5 at Alaro in Modakeke-Ife.
The prosecutor said that the convict broke into a store belonging to Sola Adeyanju.
According to him, the convict also stole two packs of noodles worth N200, a pack of Rothmans cigarettes worth N500, a pack of Benson & Hedges cigarettes worth N500 and a bottle of Agbara & Halogen hot drink worth N400 .
It added that the convict stole a Chinchin mug worth N60 and a Tiger Razor blade pack worth N300.
The crimes committed contravened articles 319 and 413 of the Penal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
