ABUJA-THE’s National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said it distributed relief items and celebrated the weekend with about 3,600 internally displaced persons, internally displaced persons in the Batsari local government area of ​​Katsina state.

The agency, in a statement signed by Ezekiel Manzo, said the relief items, which were distributed to internally displaced people at the Modelo Batsari Primary School, used as camp, included five cows that it said were to help them celebrate the Sallah.

According to the statement, while addressing internally displaced persons, NEMA Director General Vice Air Marshal Muhammadu Muhammed (rtd) said the items were approved by President Muhammadu Buhari through the Federal Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, Management of Disasters and Social Development and delivered by the agency to cushion their difficult situation.

The statement said the NEMA chief conveyed sympathy from the federal government to internally displaced persons who were displaced by bandit attacks in their communities.

He gave the list of the delivered items such as 1000 12.5 kg bags of rice, 1000 bags of 25 kg beans, 1000 bags of 12.5 kg corn, 50 boxes of Milo, 50 boxes of milk powder, 50 bags of 50 kg of sugar, 167 boxes of condiments, 83 boxes of tin tomatoes, 2000 pieces of blankets, 2000 pieces of nylon mats, 2000 pieces of foam mattresses, 100 barrels of 20 liters of vegetable oil, 50 bags of 20 kg of salt , 50 boxes of detergent powder, 63 boxes of bath soap, 3,500 pieces of wrapping and 2,500 pieces of children’s clothing.

“The camp manager, Alhaji Kabiru Umar, thanked the federal government for the aid intervention, including as an internally displaced person, Maryam Abubakar also thanked Buhari, Farouq and NEMA for delivering the relief items to their camp.

“Visibly excited Abubakar also said that their Eid-el-Kabir celebration was made special with the supply of cows and NEMA personnel who were there to celebrate with them.

“Five new births were registered in the camp in two days between July 31 and August 1. Newborns are a boy and four girls. “
