The federal government has declared Monday, October 2, a public holiday in commemoration of the nation’s 63rd celebration of independence.
This was contained in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Oluwatoyin Akinlade, on Thursday in Abuja.
According to her, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the statement on behalf of the federal government, congratulated all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Tunj-Ojo assured Nigerians of the government’s continued commitment to addressing the challenges facing the country.
“Today it is a known fact that the difficult socio-economic and security challenges are global, and Nigeria is not isolated.”
However, the Minister stated that the Government is truly striving to address these diverse and numerous challenges with all available strength until there is respite.
Tunji-Ojo reiterated that Nigeria’s eminent position in the community of nations and the greatness that awaits the country could be achieved if all citizens worked together in unity.
He said the warm and welcoming spirit of Nigerians, as well as the unlimited human capital and wealth of their land, make Nigeria indisputably the leading black nation in the world.
While wishing citizens a memorable celebration of independence, the minister recalled that the founding fathers of Nigeria, despite differences of faith, tribe and language, united for the freedom of Nigeria enjoyed by all today. citizens.
The minister assured that the current administration through the ‘Renew Hope’ agenda will ensure a better Nigeria for all citizens, as a fitting tribute to the heroes of the nation.
NAN reports that a conference will be held at the National Mosque Conference Center on Friday at 10:00 am, followed by the Juma’at prayer at the National Mosque at 1:00 pm.
President Bola Tinubu is also expected to address the nation on Sunday at 7:00 am.
The interfaith church service on Sunday, October 1 at the National Christian Center will be held at 10:00 a.m.
There will also be a Military Parade on October 2 at the Presidential Villa, at 9:00 a.m.
