President Muhammadu Buhari will announce Tuesday the construction of the $ 2.8 billion Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline, thereby laying the groundwork for stimulating the Nigerian economy.

A consortium of indigenous and international engineering companies will deliver the 614-kilometer pipeline designed to provide the highly desired stimulus to national industrial growth.

In a statement obtained by Oilserv Limited, involved in the project, stated: “This project will also mark the best time yet for the objectives of the Nigerian Content Policy. Upon exiting this project in Ajaokuta, Kogi state, the President is making some of the nation’s long-term economic aspirations come true to boost national energy infrastructure, b) deepen the local gas market, create industrial corridors with fuel cleaner, and marketing the country’s abundant gas resources.

“The project, according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), will significantly reduce gas burning in the Niger Delta and ensure better air quality in the oil-producing region.”

Similarly, he stated: “In addition, the pipeline, which was designed to connect demand from the north of the country with supply from the south, would be the largest infrastructure development in the country’s recent history. It will also mark a significant change in policy. nation’s energy sources – from revenue, targeted export programs to development-focused domestic supply programs.

“Significantly, the $ 2.8 billion project will open on June 30 after seven years of rigorous processes that transformed from policymaking through designs of implementation strategies, master plans, and robust implementation programs.

“Perhaps the greatest value to the economy is the participation of local engineering companies led by the pipeline giant, Oilserv Limited, in the delivery of some of the phases of the project.

“The company has successfully delivered more than 17 similar challenging projects in the country, including the 67 kilometer Obiafu / Obrikom engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) to Oben (OB3) 48-inch gas transmission pipeline system of diameter.

“The Oilserv consortium is slated to deliver the first 200-kilometer phase of the AKK pipeline, which covers the section between Ajaokuta and Abuja, after securing the EPC contract in April 2018.”

Continuing, he stated: “The Nigerian Presidency had confidently affirmed that the AKK pipeline project is itself a section of an ambitious pipeline project to supply gas to Europe through the proposed Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline (TSGP) and Gas Pipelines Nigeria Morocco.

“In the short term, therefore, the AKK will guarantee energy sufficiency for national commerce and industry, and in the long term, having deepened and satisfied domestic demand, it will become an export pipeline and an economic pillar.

“The AKK pipeline in Nigeria’s predominant socio-economic recession will prove to be fortuitous and strategic even as the world turns away from fossil fuel. Beyond the immediate need to stop the devastation of the crown pandemic and stimulate activity in the national economy, the AKK, which is already potentially positioned as a very central economic power in Nigeria, will also create deeper and lasting values, including a multiplier effect in local content circles, cleaner environment for host communities, accelerated technical growth, direct citizen utility, industrial convenience and, of course, general expansion of the economy, etc. “
