… There is no record of COVID-19 in Kogi, Gov insists

Arogbonlo Israel

Governor Yahaya Bello has promised that the current onslaught against criminal elements in Kogi state will continue until they are completely crushed, urging them to surrender as there would be no negotiation with criminal gangs in the state.

The governor, who assured on Friday while speaking to journalists at the Eid field in Agasa, the state’s Okene local government area, said he will lead security officers in the coming days to expel criminals from their hiding places.

Bello said his administration will not rest on its oars until all criminal elements operating along the Lokoja-Abuja and Okene-Lokoja highways are crushed.

According to the governor, his administration will continue to deal ruthlessly with criminals and will never negotiate with them under any circumstances.

Bandits are spilling into the state, especially on the Abuja-Lokoja highway, carrying out attacks on travelers recently.

“We are not going to cross our hands and look at or think about negotiating with any criminal gang; we know what to do and they know what we can do.

“In the next few days, I will take security officers to their hiding places and smoke them,” he said.

Bello said that those who have refused to take advantage of the various government empowerment programs to become self-sufficient will not be allowed to unleash terror on innocent citizens.

“The federal and state governments have high empowerment programs so that different categories of people are meaningfully engaged.

“Those who want to participate in illegal activities such as armed robbery, kidnapping and banditry will be crushed,” he said.

On the NCDC’s recent visit to the Kogi state, the governor said that the state under his leadership has had a strong partnership with the agency over the years.

He said that his arrival in the state of Kogi now that the interstate travel ban has been lifted would give the Agency for Disease Control an opportunity to underestimate the state’s success in managing infectious diseases, particularly COVID-19, which He said: “The state has yet to register any cases.”

He instructed people to continue to adhere to all safety protocols, to ensure that they lead a healthy and hygienic lifestyle, while also participating in all Federal Government empowerment and economic programs.

He urged the people of the state to continue to respect the law and to commit themselves to productive efforts.
