The Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corps, NSCDC, arrested 30-year-old Kawu Musa for alleged possession of 35 kg of substance suspected of being marijuana.
Jigawa State State Commander Mustapha Talba (CC) revealed this while parading the suspect at the command headquarters in Dutse.
He said the suspect was arrested Friday night along Kiyawa Road near NNPC Mega Station Dutse following a tip.
Talba said the suspect was arrested while transporting packages of psychotropic substances disguised as ice cream to the local government of Hadejia to be sold during the Sallah festivities.
He said 33 assorted blocks of packaged marijuana, N12,300 in cash, a Qlink motorcycle and a Tecno Android phone were recovered from the suspect.
However, the suspect confessed to having bought the illicit substance from a certain Alhaji Garba, now a fugitive.
Talba said the command will turn over the suspect along with the evidence to the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commander of the State, Mustapha Talba (CC), however, asked the general public to assist law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime and criminality in the state, providing timely information that will help eliminate criminal activities in the state.
