Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state said the worship centers will reopen tentatively on August 14.

The Governor also said that students in exit classes: Elementary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 will resume on Monday, August 4.

Abiodun said this while speaking to journalists on Wednesday at his Okemosan office in Abeokuta.

The Governor reported that churches and mosques must obey all COVID-19 guidelines that have been transmitted to them.

He emphasized that any worship center that disobeys established rules would be sanctioned.

Speaking about the resumption of schools, he said there will be two weeks of revision classes for SSS 3 students in order to prepare them for the West African High School Certificate Exam (WASSCE), starting August 17.

According to Abiodun, there will be decontamination of schools, establishment of infirmaries, provision of infrared thermometer, running water, among others.

He said that any school that does not comply cannot be reopened.

The governor also spoke of the weekend lockdown in Ogun state continuing, adding that anyone who does not wear a mask risks six months in prison.

Congratulating the Islamic faithful on Eid-el-Kabir 2020, Abiodun banned any form of gathering of more than 20 people.

He urged Muslims to pray at home, saying that there should be no form of celebration.
