The Appeal Panel of the Congress of All Progressives (APC) on the Local Government Congress in Ogun State has hinted that the party can adopt a participation formula to end the mess that arises from the recent congresses between the factions of the Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The five-person panel set up to deal with petitions that may be submitted on the conduct of the Local Government Congress in the state revealed this on Saturday while addressing journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital.

NEWSLODGE recalls that the duo of Abiodun and Amosun have taken up arms for the soul of the APC in Ogun.

Recently, those loyal to the incumbent governor and those of his predecessor held parallel congresses of local and ward government, forming separate party executives.

After the ward congress, the duo of senators Tolu Odebiyi (Ogun West) and Lekan Mustapha (Ogun East), both from Amosun camp, presented petitions and appeared before the panel.

However, the secretary of the appeals committee, Chucks Chinwnba, said the panel did not receive any requests from the local government congress.

This, he said, could be attributed to the distribution formula proposed by the party in the state.

Chinwnba revealed that the factions were proposing 60/40 and 80/20 exchange formulas, which it said had not yet been agreed.

“Yesterday (Friday), we had a meeting with the (interim) party president and the party executive. The idea was to discuss with them and find out if there are complaints. In a family there can be disagreements, it is the task of this appeal committee to bring everyone together and I think we have succeeded.

“There is a formula for sharing that was made known to us, 60-40 or 80-20. It’s working and that’s why we have relative peace, ”Chinwnba said.

In his words, the president of the appeal panel, According Ojo, added that the committee had held a “peace meeting” with party members.

“There is no written petition in the state, unlike the neighborhood congress. Later, we interacted with the petitioners, but now there is no petition sent to the national secretariat.

“This is a family matter and we treat it as such, whatever the dispute you have now, you just have to reconcile with you since we have decided to stay in the same political party except that you want to form your own party which in this case, you will leave the party and leave the rest there. So we consider this as a family issue and we have treated it as such, ”explained Ojo.
