Ogun Police Catch Nine Members of Suspected Kidnapping Syndicate

Men from the Ogun State Police Command arrested nine suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate terrorizing Abeokuta -Ayetoro road at their hideout in Abule Oba, off Ayetoro road, Abeokuta.

The arrest was made in conjunction with local hunters, So Safe Corps, Oodua People Congress (OPC) officers, vigilantes and men from the Amotekun corps.

The suspects; Taiwo Ham; Kehinde Jimoh; Umar Sanda; Sanda Aliu; Ali Morandu; Usman Abubakar; Usman Mohammed; Umaru Ahmadu and Umaru Momodu were arrested, following credible intelligence gathered by police officers at the Sabo/Ilupeju Divisional Headquarters.

It was deduced that Hammed Taiwo and Kehinde Jimoh, who are okada couriers for the union, were seen somewhere in the Rounder area of ​​the Abeokuta North Local Council.

Following the information, the Divisional Police Officer, Sabo/Ilupeju Division, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mustapha Opawoye, quickly mobilized his men and moved to the area, where the duo of Hammed Taiwo and Kehinde Jimoh were arrested.
On interrogation, they confessed to being part of the union, but their own role was to run errands and observe their surroundings to prevent law enforcement officers from inadvertently catching up with them.

His confession led to the discovery of the group’s hideout in Abule oba, off the Ayetoro road, where they always meet after collecting ransom from their victims.

Having discovered the hideout, the DPO mobilized their men, So Safe Corps, OPC men, local hunters and Amotekun corps men and subsequently stormed the location, where all nine syndicate members were arrested.

Newslodge has learned that the suspects are the group terrorizing Abeokuta/Ayetoro road recently, while some of their victims have been able to identify them as their kidnappers.

MEANWHILE, Police Commissioner Lanre Bankole has expressed satisfaction with the intelligence-led investigation carried out by his men, which led to the arrest of the thugs.

He ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Kidnapping Section of the State Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID) for a discreet investigation.
