In a statement on Monday, Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu said the “lack of interest of Igbo youths” in applying for recruitment was “disturbing”.
Iwuanyanwu said it is worrying that Igbo youths were not interested in pursuing a career in the Nigerian security forces, unlike their counterparts in the northern part of the country.
“I have noted with dismay the indifferent attitude shown by the youths of South East Nigeria towards the ongoing recruitment exercise for general duty officers of the Nigeria Police,” he said in the statement.
