President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that members of the University Academic Staff Union (ASUU) receive salaries.
He affirmed this on Thursday in his annual address to the joint session of the two Houses of the National Assembly that is currently underway.
In the highlight of the 2021 Appropriation budget that is presented to the National Assembly, he explained that all sectors of the economy would receive attention in the 2021 budget allocation, but reiterated the position of the Federal Government on the payment of the salaries of university professors, saying that those teachers who were captured in IPPIS will continue to receive their salaries without any setback.
He advised ASUU leaders to understand the government’s position, which he believes would eliminate fraud from educational institutions.
President Buhari arrived earlier at the National Assembly around 11 a.m. and was received by the joint session of the two legislative houses.
